Sin Nombre
As teenager Sayra of Honduras attempts to move to the the U.S. from Honduras, she must first pass through Mexico in a journey that produces many unexpected detours. Sin Nombre (English: Without Name) is a Spanish language film that won both Dramatic Directing Award for director Cary Joji Fukunaga and the Excellence in Cinematography Award at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. It was written and directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, from Focus Features. The film is set, and was shot in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico.
El Beso del Sueno
The protagonist, Margot provides for her ailing father financially by robbing men who she seduces on trainrides. On one fatefull night, she goes after a currency smuggler moving a large amount of money out of the Spanish country. It turns out a she's not the only one after this victim. The police and by a freelancer named Salvatierra are quickly on Margot's trail. The police suspect that Margot is workign with Salvatierra, but this is not the case. He becomes Margot's protector; is it for his own good or for hers as well? And what are these feelings that develop between the two of them? Where will the money end up? Spanish language film.

La Grand Vida (English: Living It Up) is about a humble blue collar worker who wants to committing suicide, but decides to postpone the act when someone suggests that he borrow a large sum of money from the Mafia, and spend it to buy everything his heart desires before ending his life. While using the Mafia's money, he falls for a Mexican waitress and learns that he now has reason to live. Now he just needs to stay alive while the Mafia tries to collect. What will happen in this Spanish movie?
Como Agua Para Chocolate
Como Agua Para Chocolate (English: Like Water for Chocolate) is based on a 1986 novel by Laura Esquivel of Mexico. It is the story of Tita, a young girl, who desires Pedro, but can not have him because her mother demands that she must not marry but take care of her mother until the day she dies. Tita's cooking is endowed with special qualities; it causes the people who eat it to feel what she feels. This is the way that she is able to express herself. In 1992, the film was created. It earned awards from Mexican Academy of Motion Pictures, including the Ariel Award for Best Picture, and became the highest grossing Spanish-language film ever released in the United States at the time.
La Ley de Herodes
La Ley de Herodez (The Law of Harod) is a satire of traditional Mexican politics. The movie is set in a small and remote rural town. Juan Vargas is hand picked by the national political leaders to lead the town after the death of the previous corrupt leader. At the start, Vergas is an honest and carring mayor. Soon, however, the opportunities presented by such a position of power begin to tempt Vergas away from his ideals. Will he succomb or stay true to his virtues? The answer to that question can be found in watching this hillarious comedy. (DVD in Spanish, with English subtitles, 122 minutes, Rated R.)
Flores del Otro Mundo
Flores del Otro Mundo (Flowers of Another World) is the tale of a group of ladies who visit a remote and rural village that is disproportionately populated by males. The women desire for improved lives, but the guys want romance. The movie follows three couples as romance devolopes and they struggle to share their new found love. This film won the Mercedes-Benz Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. (DVD in Spanish with English subtitles; 100 minutes; Not Rated.)
Emma Zunz
Emma Zunz (Emma Zunz) is a film about a shy teenag girl named Emma Zunz. Under her timid personality can be found a desire for revenge. This is because Emma's father, was accused of being a criminal wrongly and commited suicide. This results in Emma to seak the real culprit. The Devil's Miner
The Devil's Miner is a film that follows a young Bolivian boy who works in a mine near Potosí, Bolivia with his younger brother. The documentary focuses on the worries and desires of the miners, who are afraid of “El Tio” or the devil. It claims that more than eight million people have died in the unsafe mines. The Bolivian miners believe that this is due to “Tio” controlling the world underneath the ground, where the mines are, and that the Christian diety, Christ, does not have power there. The workers offer up sacrifices to "Tio," who's favor they hope to keep in order to stay safe. Although the workers are practicing Catholics, the local church cannot quell clandestine beliefs of "Tio's" power. (Directed by Kief Davidson and Richard Ladkani, Spanish language, Not Rated)
El Espinazo Del Diablo
El Espinoza Del Diablo (The Devil's Backbone) is a thriller directed by the renowned Guillermo del Toro. It combines dark humor with horror, to create a stylish and memorable story. The young protagonist, Carlos, just arrived at the school of Santa Lucía, an orphanage for of the Republican militia at the end of the Spanish Civil War. Carlos discovers the hidden connections that bring together the school's children: treasures, and the ghost of a student that was killed. El Crimen del Padre Amaro (The Crime of Padre Amaro) is the story of a new priest that is moved to a small rural church, where he encounters a veluptuous young lady that is passionate about Catholicism. The beautful woman's vibrant faith soon grows intertwined with her desire for the new priest. When the priest succomes to this temptation and sins, he becomes conflicted internally.
